Project Title: You are Here.

Project Description: Please provide a 2-3 paragraph description of your project and how it fits our selection criteria

         Our project, entitled ‘You are Here’, is an interactive mapping projection which engages with audiences. This playful virtual map shows how people enjoy and contribute to the constant societal flux,which is New York.

The audience will draw an image on a light box, then with a click of a button their creation will instantaneously be transferred to a virtual world via a hidden camera. The participants themselves will then have the freedom to interact with environments and assets as a virtual tourist. The outcome of their participation is to revive the audience’s appreciation for the relationship between people and their city, in particular, the wonders of New York. In this way the project hopes to revive and augment people’s senses, which all too often grow lackadaisical to the charms of their everyday environments.

We choose M4, the Stone Building Milton Facade, as the best spot for our projection. The huge building,with many windows, is perfectly fitted to our virtual avenues, streets and shapes of our  buildings.

First Choice Project Location: M4 (Stone Building Milton Facade)

Project  Location  Description:

 This project needs geometric figures like big windows to match the virtual city map. M4 matches this requirements well. As an alternative, a large, flat place like J4 would be quite satisfactory. The participatory aspect of this project obviously requires more human traffic, so the larger the place the better.

Technical specifications, materials and equipment:

Equipment: One 5,000~10,000Ansi projector, 1 Mac Pro, 1 Light box, 1 Stand, 1Table, 2 Lights, 1 Camera, 5 Electronic power sources which can provide 10~15A for the equipments each.

Budget: Please do not use a dollar sign in your submission

We need to setup our own light box and rent a 5,000~10,000 Ansi projector. To bring all of our equipments, we need at least more than 300 dollars as a shipping charge and rent fee.
